New CCRS Center State Map Features—Identify How States Are Measuring and Supporting College and Career Readiness

States are implementing a variety of initiatives and policies to assess and support students’ college and career readiness. To help state leaders and policymakers identify trends and learn about innovative approaches to this work, the College and Career Readiness and Success (CCRS) Center has updated the CCRS Center interactive state map with new and streamlined content. The map provides an easy-to-navigate snapshot of state college and career readiness policies, metrics, and initiatives across all states.

CCRS State Map Additions Highlight Career and Technical Education (CTE) Initiatives

Today, we announced the addition of eight new territories to the map: American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands (CNMI), the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), Guam, Palau, Puerto Rico, the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI), and the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI). Visitors to the interactive map can now review, compare, and contrast college and career readiness policies and programs for all 50 states, D.C., and now the eight territories.

Progress: Teachers, Leaders, and Students Transforming Education

The U.S. Department of Education has released a blog, Progress: Teachers, Leaders and Students Transforming Education, which highlights promising practices, lessons learned, and resources related to implementing K-12 reforms. The blog was developed to provide educators, parents, leaders, and stakeholders with information on how state and local K-12 leaders across the country are implementing education reforms.

Support for States Employability Standards in CTE and Adult Education

Employability skills, such as critical thinking, technology use, and communication, are critical for success in the labor market. Many of these skills have been integrated into the Common Core State Standards and the Common Career Technical Core. Realizing the importance of developing employability skills across all sectors and levels of employment, the Office of Vocational and Adult Education (OVAE) at the U.S.

Connecting the Dots: Education, Policy, Workforce

On September 17, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Education and Workforce Program hosted Connecting the Dots: Education, Policy, Workforce, a summit focused on the roles that business, education, and workforce development leaders can play in improving education outcomes and increasing the number of people who are college and career ready.
