Looking for new college and career readiness and success-related resources? Here are some pieces that other organizations have recently released:

College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education (U.S. Department of Education, April 2013)

This report aims to raise awareness about the skills and knowledge required for success in postsecondary education and the workforce. The report describes how the College and Career Readiness (CCR) standards that are a part of the Common Core State Standards can serve as a framework for creating CCR standards for adult education programs.

Charter Schools and the Road to College Readiness: The Effects on College Preparation, Attendance and Choice (Boston Foundation, New Schools Venture Fund, May 11, 2013)

This study builds on a 2009 report by the Boston Foundation and the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Informing the Debate, which explored the effects of charter schools in Boston on standardized test scores. This study examines the effects of Boston’s charter high schools on student outcomes, such as high school graduation, Advanced Placement and SAT test scores, and college enrollment.

Early College, Early Success: Early College High School Initiative Impact Study (American Institutes for Research, June 2013)

This study examines the impact of Early College High Schools by addressing their effects on student outcomes (high school graduation, college enrollment, and college degree attainment) and whether these effects vary depending on the student’s background characteristics. This study compares outcomes of students who participated in an admissions lottery and were offered enrollment to those who participated and not offered enrollment.

The Reality of College Readiness 2013 (ACT, June 2013)

This report is a companion to the annual ACT report, The Condition of College & Career Readiness, which describes the college readiness level of students who complete the ACT college readiness assessment.  This report provides state information on the patterns of 2011 ACT-tested high school graduates with a focus on college enrollment, retention, re-enrollment, and migration. The report also describes how meeting ACT’s College Readiness Benchmarks impacts those patterns and college success.
