This report provides state education leaders with information on how to align academics and career & technical education (CTE) through implementation of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). This report describes what states are doing to align CTE and CCSS, highlights strategies, and identifies common challenges and barriers to alignment. The strategies currently being used by states to integrate the CCSS into CTE programs include: developing a common understanding of college and career readiness; forming cross-disciplinary teams; ramping up on communications and information sharing; creating or updating curricular and instructional resources; enhancing literacy and math strategies; fostering teacher collaboration; establishing expectations; and involving postsecondary CTE.
