Beyond High School: Efforts to Improve Postsecondary Transitions Through Linked Learning

On October 9, 2014, The Alliance for Excellent Education hosted a webinar titled “Beyond High School: Efforts to Improve Postsecondary Transitions Through Linked Learning.” The focus of this webinar was to explore and discuss Linked Learning, an educational approach being implemented in select California high schools, and its success in supporting the transition from high school to postsecondary education and careers.

Moving Beyond Access: College success for low-income, first-generation students.

This report addresses the challenges that face at-risk students who are the first in their family to attend college. The authors examine the constraints on college success for low-income, first-generation students and how colleges can promote success for this population. Recommendations include improving academic preparation for college, providing more financial support, and easing the transition to college through targeted on-campus programming.

How Are States Supporting Students Transitioning from High School to College?

Education leaders across the nation are working hard to ensure their students successfully transition from high school into postsecondary education. With so many variables to consider, this is no small task. To assist with the process, the Education Commission of the States (ECS) has launched a Blueprint for College Readiness, which includes a 50-state online database to provide guidance and support to those leaders.
