CCRS Center Updates

The College and Career Readiness and Success Center (CCRS Center) works to help states and other CCRS stakeholders better inform, align, and support efforts to ensure that all students are ready for success in their postsecondary endeavors.  

The CCRS Center has released the following tools and issue briefs to help schools, districts, and states address key CCRS needs as they work to ensure all students are college and career ready:

High School Redesign Initiative

In February 2013, during his State of the Union Address, President Obama announced the High School Redesign initiative. The initiative will encourage schools to develop new college and career pathways through a $300 million competitive grant program.  On June 7, Secretary of Education Arne Duncan followed up with details on the competition. New College & Career Readiness & Success Center Brief on Career and Technical Education

The College & Career Readiness & Success (CCRS) Center recently released a brief titled How Career and Technical Education Can Help Students Be College and Career Ready: A Primer.  This brief examines the role of career and technical education (CTE) in preparing students for both college and the workforce in a changing postsecondary landscape.

High School Matters and the National High School Center are winding down, but the College and Career Readiness and Success Center (CCRS Center) is gearing up! The CCRS Center’s mission is to better inform, align, and support efforts to ensure that all students are ready for success in college and careers. Housed at the American Institutes for Research, it will serve as a technical assistance hub for Regional Comprehensive Centers (RCCs), state education agencies, and other CCRS stakeholders.

The American Institutes for Research recently released a pocket guide, Promoting College and Career Readiness: A Pocket Guide for State and District Leaders, to support state and local policymakers and practitioners as they implement the college and career readiness initiatives included in their state Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) flexibility plans.
